Our Philosophy and People
Our philosophy emerges naturally from who we are and where we have been. Notice that we don't refer to it as a 'business' philosophy. All of us here at J. Asher share some common approaches to helping our clients.
We are all part of a larger project
We are positioned to see all the way from the design inspiration, to the hard work of product manufacture, to the smile on the homeowners face when the goods are delivered. (We also see the frowns when goods are delayed or products are not what they should be.) We care about those connections between our suppliers, our clients, and the end-user. It is personal for us. We take pride in helping our suppliers understand our clients, and our clients understand our suppliers.
This communication up and down the 'supply chain' is one major reason why design professionals come back to work with us over the years. Another reason we are proud of our work is that we choose our suppliers with great care. We represent their beautiful products to the design trade only if their products and business practices are exceptional and in alignment with our goals. We believe that luxury is not a thing to be had, but an experience to add meaning to one's life. We believe that providing the most beautiful rugs, produced with both social-environmental integrity and the finest craftsmanship is the true definition of Luxury.
This is a little about us...
Jay Asher Bremen was sorting yarn colors for his fathers braided rug company in 1953. He has seen all aspects of the floor covering industry and its amazing evolution during the last 50 years. Jay's experience in the floor covering industry gives him valuable insight into both residential and all types of commercial projects that our designers count on every day. Jay personally knows the owners of most of our key suppliers. This enables us to know who to trust.
Dean Buchanan has been with J. Asher since the fall of 1998 helping Jay reshape the look and offerings of the company. He has provided a new focus on exquisite transitional handmade rugs and carpeting. Over the years, Dean has helped thousands of designers and their clients find the right texture, construction, budget point, and vendor for the project. He follows up thoroughly and makes sure the job happens as it should.
Jen Chappell version 4.0 comes equipped with a keen sense of color, a photographer's eye, good humor, and a love of hand made textiles. Whether bespoke area rugs or wall to wall installation, together we can find something appropriate for your project working within your client's budget. Many of her clients comment that Jen is an invaluable part of their design team and provides a powerful sounding board for new ideas.
We provide real help and advice in all aspects of the design process. We add value to your experience with us. Thank you for those of you who have worked with us through the years, and, a hearty welcome to those who we have yet to meet, we look forward to doing so!
